NDC summons Stephen Atubiga over comments supporting Eugene Arhin’s alleged wealth

The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has summoned a member of its communication team, Stephen Atubiga over a comment it says was “unfortunate” and “inconsistent” with the very principles on which it was founded.

Reacting to the list of properties allegedly owned by the Director of Communications at the Office of the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, the NDC member was reported to have said that “only useless politicians retire poor.”

“We are all trying to achieve something in life after schooling and wherever we find ourselves working so that we can give back to our families parents or society. No politician retires empty-handed unless they led a useless life,” the NDC communication team member reportedly said.

Describing the statement as “unfortunate,” the NDC Functional Executive Committee has asked Mr Atubiga to appear before its members to explain why disciplinary actions should not be taken against him.

“FEC finds the above statements unfortunate, especially when they are not consistent with the very principles on which the NDC is founded,” the statement signed by NDC Deputy General Secretary, Barbara Serwaa Asamoah said.
