Exclusive: UPSA school fees penalty not running despite SRC statement

Penalty for late registration at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has not started running despite a statement to the contrary, UPSANEWSROOM.com has learnt.

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) has stated in a statement on Monday that penalty for late registration has kicked in.

“This communique comes to inform the entire student body that the deadline for the PAYMENT OF THE 2020/2021 FIRST SEMESTER ACADEMIC FEES transpired on Friday, February 12, 2021. Kindly note the PENALTY FOR LATE PAYMENT OF FEES commences Today, February 15, 2021. Without paying the penalty you cannot register for your course for this semester,” the statement from the IMC read.

However, UPSANEWSROOM.com has gathered the penalty calculated at GHS50 weekly has not started running despite the statement from the IMC.

“I just paid my fees and disbursed and everything was fine. I didn’t have to pay any penalty,” a Level 300 Business Administration student said after going through the process.

Another student also confirmed to UPSANEWSROOM.com that she had gone through the process without paying the penalty.
