UPSA matriculates 8,247 fresh students in Covid controlled environment

A total of 8,247 freshmen and women have been matriculated by the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) for the 2020/2021 academic year.

The fresh students who cut across undergraduate and diploma programmes were welcomed in a covid-19 controlled environment. A majority of the newly admitted students joined the ceremony virtually.

The number of students admitted for the 2020/2021 academic year represents a 38.44% increase from the previous years, the university has said.

The school noted that out of the 8,247 registered students, 4,478 of them are males and 3,769 are females.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Abednego F. O. Amartey advised the students to abide by the disciplinary codes of the school.

“It is important that the journey you are beginning ends successfully. For this to happen, you need to regularly attend lectures, complete all your assignments, and shun deviant behaviour and other vices that can interfere with your bright future,” Professor Amartey told the students.

Touching on infrastructure, the Vice-Chancellor announced that two new hostels will soon be completed to accommodate over 3,200 students, a development he said will ease the accommodation challenges facing the school.

Below are some pictures from the ceremony shared by the school.
