A screenshot of a seemingly controversial WhatsApp status of the Deputy Chairperson of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Students’ Representative Council (SRC) is making the rounds on social media.
In the said post shared last Sunday, Patience Asantewaa made reference to the account of the Students’ Representative Council in a manner some students say smacked of “a blatant abuse of the coffers.”
Underneath a picture taken with the Acting Financial Controller, Clifthen Ampofo, the Deputy IMC Chairperson wrote:
The post was accompanied by six emojis, the WhatsApp status has revealed.
The circulation of the post comes at a time some students are demanding accountability following several allegations of financial impropriety levelled against the members of the SRC Interim Management Committee.
The IMC led by its Chairperson spent an eye-raising whopping GHS65,000 to purchase tissue papers and soaps for donation to the school at a time some students are faced with some issues with the e-learning platform.
Sources close to UPSANEWSROOM.com have revealed that the IMC made some extravagant expenses and are unable to produce the necessary documentations covering the transactions.
As at the time of publishing the story, UPSANEWSROOM.com has repeatedly contacted members of the IMC to comment on these developments but they have declined.
