The Supreme Court has dismissed an application filed by the 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to inspect documents belonging to the Electoral Commission (EC).
The apex court said that per the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I. 127) all contesting candidates are to be furnished with documents by the Electoral commissioner and that the petitioner John Dramani Mahama has not demonstrated that he did not have them.
The decision was given on Wednesday after hearing arguments from the various parties on the application to inspect documents.
Lawyers for Mr Mahama have argued that there is a need for the numbers put out by the Electoral Commission to be relooked at again since they are not certain about the exact figures used in declaring the President-Elect.
