PNC pushes for more women appointees in Akufo-Addo’s 2nd term

The People’s National Convention (PNC) is asking President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint more women into strategic governance positions, in his second term.

In a statement Wednesday, PNC General Secretary, Janet Nabla, said women in Ghana deserve better attention than was given to them in the President’s first term.

“In the first tenure of office of His Excellency Nana Addo, women were under represented in almost all sectors of his appointment,” she wrote.

Women have been underrepresented in the governance of Ghana, a situation the PNC General Secretary has decried and she has asked for a change in attitude by the political class.

Janet Nabla is asking Ghana to follow the examples set by South Africa where about 50 percent of appointees are women.
