KNUST Interim SRC EC announces plans to organise postponed SRC Election

The Interim Electoral Commission at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced plans to organise the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections for the 2020/2021 academic year which was postponed in the heat of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement copied UPSANEWSROOM.com Friday, the Commission said it has already started preparations to hold the much-awaited student council elections.

“The Commission wishes to inform the student body that plans for the upcoming SRC elections are well underway and will be communicated to all candidates and the entire student populace in due time,” the statement read.

The statement of the Interim Electoral Commission comes days after the school reopened for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Election of KNUST SRC leaders was called off following the closure of both public and private schools by the President on March 16, 2020.

Nearly ten months after the closures, the Interim SRC Electoral Commission has indicated its readiness to hold the election.

“We as a Commission, though interim, are bent on ensuring that free and fair elections are held and we would like to reassure all students that your faith in us will not be in vain,” the statement concluded.
