The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as “mischievous” a report that he promised to build more mortuaries in Muslim dominated communities.
John Dramani Mahama was quoted to have said during an interview that he was going to construct more mortuaries in Zongo communities.
His comment was reportedly in response to a question about his plans to help Muslims in deprived communities across the country.
The ex-president has come under severe criticisms over the report but in a statement Monday, Mr Mahama said he never said what was attributed to him.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the said publication is mishcievous, deliberately distorted and calculated to whip up anti-Muslim sentiments against the NDC and the JOHN MAHAMA 2020 Campaign,” the statement said.
