Nursery, kindergarten, primary, JHS 1 and SHS 1 students are expected to resume school in January 2021.
However, JHS 2 and SHS 2 students will be back to school on October 5, 2020.
The announcement was made by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his 16th Covid-19 address to the nation.
Ghanaian schools have been closed since March as part of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus across the country.
Although the government has taken steps to ease the restrictions on education, pre-tertiary students will only be back to school in January next year.
“The next academic year will resume in January 2021, with appropriate adjustments made to the curriculum, to ensure that nothing is lost from the previous year,” President Akufo-Addo added.
The President acknowledged the untold hardship that the continued stay at home of the students is having on parents and teachers but said it is necessary to defeat the virus.
