STRANEK pushes for probe into unexplained expenditure at Gender Ministry

Gender Minister, Cynthia Morrison

Pressure group, STRANEK has petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor to probe some unexplained expenditure made by the Gender Ministry.

The group in a petition dated Monday and sighted by UPSANEWSROOM.com says the Ministry had been captured by the Auditor-General as having spent some monies with no documents to back it.

Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu

“On pages 186 to 189 of the Report it is indicated that after a review of payment records of the Ministry of Gender Children & Social Protection, six payments totalling GHC 1,556,691.00 and US$266,660.00 have been made by the Ministry, but requests for the relevant payment vouchers to substantiate the expenditure incurred have proven futile,” STRANEK said.

They are therefore calling on the Special Prosecutor to probe the matter in order to put the issue to rest.
