The Committee of Inquiry tasked to probe two officers of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Professional Studies, Accra has submitted its final report to the SRC President, Peter Mwin Zumah.
The five-page report and some audio recordings being conversations held between the Committee and the key witnesses were handed over to the SRC President who was seen visibly limping on Sunday.
Chairman of the Committee, Oheneba Nana Osei Kumi thanked the President for attending to his constitutional duties despite the attack he suffered on Saturday at the Achimota CP Junction.
“The Committee of Inquiry never expected you to attend the ceremony because of what happened to you at the Achimota CP Junction,” he said, adding: “It is good you came because our mandate officially ends today [Sunday] Mr President.”
Receiving the report, Mr Mwin Zumah was full of praise for the Committee for the swift manner it has executed its work.
“This is the first student Committee of Inquiry I have seen in this school that has complied with and respected the time set for it,” he said, “students of the university are proud of you.”
The SRC President assured the Committee he will review the report and its recommendations for onward submission to the Dean of Students’ and Vice Chancellor of the school.
“Some people are saying the formation of the Committee was a mere sham but you have proven that you are serious men and women,” Mr Mwin Zumah said.
