The SRC Vice President and Welfare Committee Chairman at the University of Professional Studies, Accra have been caught in a fresh scandal involving the payment of school fees for needy but brilliant students.

Messrs Nathaniel Jill Addo Junior and Simeon Mede Yao who also doubles as the Deputy General Assembly Speaker are alleged to have approached some innocent students with a plot to place them on the SRC Welfare list meant for needy students.

Many of the people they approached do not fall within the specified category of needy but brilliant students.

The duo, according to some of the victims who spoke to UPSANEWSROOM.com Sunday, promised to pay their fees for them from the SRC coffers and in turn, they will take the monies from them through the back door.

This scheme, UPSANEWSROOM.com sources close to the duo have revealed was implemented in the First Semester of the 2019/2020 academic year and same was done in the Second Semester.

The scandal would have played out without the notice of the public and larger students but some of the victims began to circulate chats and snapshots of monies sent to Mr Mede through Mobile Money.

UPSANEWSROOM.com has tried reaching Messrs Mede and Addo to get their side of the story but their phones have been off since the scandal broke.

Meanwhile, some of the victims have threatened to visit a court action on the two if they do not return monies taken from them.

“Why do you demand monies from us when you know you are using the SRC dues when we are all contributors?” a visibly angry victim quizzed.

“They will see,” she added.
