Crosscheck Media Group Limited (CMG), managers of UPSANEWSROOM.com has revealed plans to launch an online radio station in December 2020 to be known as Professional Radio.
The media organisation says the radio station will give Ghanaian students real-world experience with 21st-century technology.
“Before coming out with this idea, the Crosscheck Media Group Limited (CMG) took into consideration the growing number of people who have been listening to radio through online streams,” Managing Editor of UPSANEWSROOM.com, Daniel Osei Kumi said in a statement released Monday.
“Professional Radio will provide a modernized experience for both communications students and our listening audience at the University of Professional Studies, Accra and its contiguous communities,” he said.
The station will work with student volunteers and professional DJs who will be taken through ways to move their programs to the new online format.
The station will be located at Legon outside the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
“Professional Radio will remain a community resource,” Mr Osei Kumi said, adding: “The station is expected to lead students to careers at media outlets including Joy 99.7 FM, Citi FM and Daily Graphic, among others.”
Professional Radio is expected to build on the legacy of the Crosscheck Media Group Limited by providing a modern experience that listeners can enjoy anywhere they like.
