President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received round applause from leading political parties in Ghana for measures taken so to stop the rapid spread of the coronavirus.
The political parties including the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and National Democratic Party (NDP) each praised the President for his government’s measures so far.
The other parties in attend at the meeting at the Jubilee House on Friday, were the People’s National Convention (PNC), the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A representative of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Bridgette Dzobgenuku, at the meeting rallied other political parties to look at the bigger picture in the fight against the disease.
“Let’s make an effort at taking off our competitive blinders, and put on our compassionate lenses, because, at this point, it is the compassion we need,” she said.
The NDC Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo also made an appeal to all Ghanaians to rally behind the government in defeating the common enemy.
“[We need] to come together, put our shoulder to the wheel, and assist government fight and defeat the pandemic,” he said.
