UPSA Judicial Council set to hear case opposing suspension of SRC President today

UPSA SRC President Peter Zuma

The Judicial Council of the UPSA Students’ Representative Council (SRC) is expected to hear a petition challenging the suspension of SRC President, Peter MwinZumah.

The hearing will take place on Wednesday at the LBC Auditorium inside the school at 5 pm prompt, a notice signed by the Judicial Secretary, Ernest Nyampong said.

Mr MwinZumah is at the SRC High Chamber contesting his suspension by the General Assembly on February 24, 2020, following his failure to attend an emergency meeting.

The SRC President was scheduled to appear before the General Assembly to respond to questions regarding the use of funds belonging to the council.

He was, however, unable to attend and following a motion moved on the floor of the House and seconded by the SRC Vice President, Nathaniel Jill Addo Junior, the SRC President was suspended.

But he has described the action of GA as a blatant and complete breach of the SRC Constitution, which he said has no provision on the suspension of an elected officer of the student council.

The judgment of the SRC High Chamber will determine whether the decision of the General Assembly stands or not.
