An outspoken General Assembly member of the UPSA Students’ Representative Council (SRC) has challenged President Peter MwinZumah to prove his innocence in some questionable deals.
The SRC President was cited in a report of an independent probe conducted into the financial statement of the student council for the first semester.
According to the report, Mr MwinZumah spent a whooping GH¢25,000 on project work training seminar for final year students and GH¢28,677 on office equipment in 2019.
The Auditors say the explanation offered and documents produced did not satisfactorily justify the expenses personally made by the president.
At a General Assembly meeting held Monday, the SRC president produced some receipts indicating he used those monies judiciously.
But some GA members have indicated they are unimpressed and dissatisfied with the explanation and documents offered by Mr MwinZumah.
Interacting with UPSANEWSROOM.com’s Venessa Odumah Boamah and Papa Nyan Andoh on the sidelines of the meeting, Mr Dela Ofori dared the President to prove his innocence by producing legitimate documents.
“I just want the right thing to be done. If he has clean hands, then he should be able to provide the necessary documents with ease,” he said.
But the President of the Communication Studies Students Association has described the reaction of officers of the student council following the release of the Audit report as a “house divided against itself.”
Keziah Dekpor told UPSANEWSROOM.com the SRC executives do not “appear united,” adding this will raise issues of mistrust and excite students disaffection against them.
