Outspoken social media commentator, Kelvin Taylor says he is not threatened by a warrant issued for his arrest.
An Accra High Court issued a warrant for his arrest over allegations concerning A Court of Appeal judge, Justice Kyei-Baffour.
Mr Taylor is alleged to have said that the judge was elevated to the second-highest court of the land because of his involvement in the trial of some individuals over the embezzlement of the sum of $4 million belonging to the National Communication Authority (NCA).
“I issue a warrant for him to be produced before the court to show cause why he should not be committed to prison,” Justice Kyei-Baffuor explained the reason for the warrant.
But less than three hours after the warrant was issued, Mr Taylor took to Facebook to threaten a showdown.
“This is a new age. We are not going to feel intimidated. Nobody can intimidate us. We are ready to speak truth to power,” he said.
“Judge Kyei-Baffuor is not bigger than Ghana. He is not bigger than the other judges we have in Ghana. In fact, Judge Kyei-Baffuor is a problem to the CJ [Chief Justice]. He can decide to write all the English, summon all the cases against me. But the fact still stays that Justice Kyei-Baffuor is bending the rules. Justice Kyei-Baffuor is bending the rules,” he added.
