The Auditor-General has directed all staff of the Ghana Audit Services and other contractors to ensure that public officers who have not complied with the assets declaration regime are singled out for swift action.
Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution and the Public Office Holders (Declaration of Assets and Disqualification) Act, 1998, (Act 550) enjoin public officers to declare their assets before assuming any position.
Previous auditing of the various government institutions did not factor public officers who have not complied with the assets declaration regime.
But Auditor-General, Daniel Yao Domelevo, has called an end to the neglect and directed his team to focus on such defaulting public officers in their 2019 Audit Report.
