Parliament has approved the sum of GH¢443 million for the compilation of a new voters’ register ahead of the 2020 polls.
The Electoral Commission (EC)’s activity was contained in the government budget approved by the House on Tuesday.
The Minority had opposed the inclusion of that activity in the budget and had called for it to be expunged.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmakers had argued the current register is fit for purpose.
But the Majority had countered, arguing the credibility of the voters’ register used for the 2016 General Elections was no longer reliable and credible.
